iPhone soon to be available on all UK networks!

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

The massively popular iPhone was in the news last month with Orange and Vodafone managed to find a way to sell the phone and stop O2′s exclusive deal to be the only operator to sell the device in the UK.

Now the remaining 2 operators, T-Mobile and 3 have engineered a way of selling the phone to their users.  Their plan is to offer contract-free Apple iPhones to British consumers who are threatening to leave for another network holding the right to sell the phone in the UK.

Apple have kept the sales of the iPhone ludicrously restricted just to O2 since the phones launch which has done more for O2′s customer share than any other marketing ploy for years, but with the UK’s mobile market due to be shifted around considerably over the next year, things may change shortly!

3 and T-Mobile are only offering the phone to their high-value customers though as the cost of a contract-free phone is quite considerable!

It looks like leading up to Christmas there will be a price war with the phone going on sale with Orange as well as O2 at both Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U.

Apples big iPhone

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Steve Jobs is set to pull off another sensation with Apple’s new tablet computer.

Think of a massive iPhone/iTouch and it’s set to fill the gap between the iPhone and a laptop.

The lack of keyboard is the most notable concept of this new idea.  A relatively small device which you’d be able to conveniently on the sofa as well as a business tool for demonstration purposes.

Rumours predict that the device will cost around £350, which is a little high when decent netbooks start from around £140 and do the same thing (with a keyboard), but then saying that, if it’s Apple it’s bound to be shiny and cool with an intuitive interface.

Great new idea, whether it will take on or not is another matter, but I do find the iPhone too small for normal browsing when I’m at home and I often can’t be bothered to fire up the laptop, so maybe it will fill that gap?

New facebook 3.0 iPhone app submitted for approval with apple

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Currently the facebook app on the iPhone is a bit outdated to say the least.
Whilst it does do the basics it’s never been a very impressive application when facebook has such a great amount of resource at its disposal.

Joe Hewitt from facebook has published on twitter the news that the new app is on its way and it uses many of the new features available on the iPhone 3GS.
The new app will make use of some of the newer features available on the website, including the much loved “like” links which appear on comments and status updates.
Whilst this is all very exciting, it looks like the 3.1 app which is currently in development is going to be even better!
