Description

There are 1.3 million iPhone users in the UK and increasing numbers of them are likely to move home this year as signs of a property market recovery emerge.

And this, no doubt, is why some property portals have rushed to launch apps for the iPhone recently. But the next big player in the market to offer a useful, fun and functionality-rich app is FindaProperty.com. It is free to download but unlike any others it takes iPhone house-hunting to the next level, offering features that more fully exploit the handset’s touch screen, rotate and accelerometer functions.

The home screen begins simply, prompting users to search for properties for sale or rent – or to locate an agent – using either postcode, place name or ‘my location’ via the handset’s GPS; and then the functionality kicks in.

Feel-good functionality includes the search ‘refine’ sliders for radius, price and number of bedrooms but the most engaging feature is the apps’ use of maps both within its search results (enabling maps to be populated with interactive ‘for sale’ pins) and to offer house hunters directions to a property (on foot, by car or on public transport) in Google Maps.

And if you’re in an area and want to see properties for sale around you, a single tap from the home page populates a map, again with active icons that click through to full properties listings – a feature not offered by competitors.

The touch screen is used to its full too. Rather than use ‘back’ buttons to navigate the listing, FindaProperty’s properties can be browsed with screen swipes and, for example, this enables users to navigate from one ‘full details’ listing to another – without needing to return to the main scrolling list.

And tip the iPhone over within…
